A performance for the hopeful ending: What we never thought we needed

The end of the pandemic seems tangible – but will it be the end we want? On the 3rd June 2022 at 7pm the singer Alexandra Frenkel we will once again enter a world of isolationduring her final Master of Music recital. At the Factorium in Tilburg, she will re flect on(e)motion with beloved songs from famous musicals – Into The Woods, Frozen and The Waitress among others. The show will be directed by Brigitte Odett and accompanied onthe piano by Steven Van Gool.

The perception of feelings deemed „bad“ and „weak“ took a plunge throughout multiplelockdowns, when many people had no choice but face it all. In a society that teaches us toovercome sadness by ignoring it in order to live happily ever after, a change of perspectiveseems to be in order. Stephen Sondheim, Robert and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Duncan Sheik and many more will guide us through darkness, re flection and acceptance. Alexandra Frenkel, born in Ukraine and raised in Germany, is a gifted singer with classical roots. She came to the Netherlands in order to pursue a dream she never dared to face until acting taught her otherwise. After three years of studies and the support of Edward Hoepelman, Pia Douwes and others, the upcoming event is her last Fontys performance before entering the professional world of music theatre.
